Reactie van Europees Commissaris op Burma-brief CDJA, PerspectieF en SGP-j

Vorige week ontving PerspectieF een reactie van Europees Commissaris voor Externe Relaties, de Oostenrijkse Benita Ferrero-Waldner, op onze brief van 19 mei. Destijds stuurden we namelijk een brief aan haar, aan de Hoge Vertegenwoordiger voor het Gemeenschappelijk Buitenlandbeleid en aan de Ministers van Buitenlandse Zaken van de 27 EU-lidstaten. In die brief riepen we hen op er alles aan te doen om humanitaire hulp bij de lijdende Burmese bevolking te brengen.

In haar brief gaat ze onder andere in op het standpunt van de drie christelijke politieke jongerenorganisaties dat het bieden van humanitaire hulp aan de Burmezen belangrijker is dan het rekening houden met de soevereiniteit van de Burmese staat. De junta verhinderde immers dat de geboden hulp het land in kon.
